Ballet prides itself in creating holistic young children to be beautiful and strong Cecchetti dancers.

 

Lessons

Lessons for age 7 and up take place every Tuesday. Children are grouped according to their grades at school:

Primary Level Ballet (ages 7 and 8)
Test 1 Level Ballet (ages 9 and 10)
Test 2 Ballet (ages 11 and 12)
Test 3 Ballet ( ages 12 and up)

 

Curriculum

 

Ages 3 to 6 are encouraged to use their imagination through creative movement. The work done at this age focuses on early childhood development together with the foundation of ballet so that the transition into syllabus work is smooth.

Ages 7 and up learn the set, internationally recognized Cecchetti Method of Ballet. In-house and external assessments as well as exams are done annually.

Kirsty Lee Mansfield

Kirsty Lee Mansfield, founder of the Kirsty Lee Mansfield School of Ballet, started ballet at the age of 6 having trained in the Cecchetti method. She is the recipient of many awards including The National Society of Teachers of Dance award for 2008. Kirsty not only danced the principal role of Clara in The Nutcracker at the State Theatre at the age of 11, but also by selection danced with the South African Ballet Theatre Academy throughout her high school years.  

Kirsty was chosen to represent the country at the International Cecchetti Competition in Calgary, Canada, where she reached the semi-finals. She was a graduate member of the South African Ballet Theatre and performed in many prestigious and well-known ballets. She is a qualified Cecchetti Ballet Teacher who offers exam level classes to children aged 7 and older.
